More people now ask an AI assistant who to call before they ever open a search page. So we asked them. On November 4, 2026 we put the same three questions to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Grok, Meta AI, DeepSeek and Google's AI Overviews for five Oklahoma City trades, and counted which local businesses each one named.
This is the first edition of the TruLata AI recommendation index. We will run it every month.
What we found
- 264 Oklahoma City businesses were named across the five trades.
- Only 25 were named by five or more engines.
- 152 of them, 58%, were named by just one engine and nowhere else.
The engines mostly disagree. Whether a homeowner hears a company's name depends heavily on which assistant they happen to use. A small group of businesses shows up almost everywhere, and the rest are a lottery.
The businesses that appear across many engines tend to have the same things in common: a clear website that says what they do and where, a well-kept Google Business Profile, a long run of recent reviews, and mentions on other sites the engines trust. None of that is new. What is new is that it now decides whether an AI assistant says your name at all.
Chiropractors in Oklahoma City

How we ran it
For each trade we asked each engine three plain questions a customer would ask, such as "best roofers in Oklahoma City, OK", and read every business each answer named. A business counts once per engine, no matter how many of the three answers named it. We count only engines that actually answered. Google showed no AI Overview, or its service errored, on every question for chiropractors, plumbers and roofers, so those trades are scored out of seven engines. For heating and air and for injury lawyers it answered at least once, so those are scored out of eight. Rankings are by the number of engines, then by how many answers named the business.
AI answers change from day to day and from person to person, so treat this as a snapshot of November 4, 2026, not a permanent ranking. That is why we will repeat it every month.
