See which marketing brought in each new matter, read live from your Clio Manage.
Connect Clio Manage with one button and TruLata reads your matters: new ones on the Leads tab with the client and the source your firm recorded, and every matter on the Jobs tab as pending, opened or closed. The connection is read only, so your matters, contacts and calendar stay yours to run in Clio.
What will I see from Clio Manage?
Your matters, in two places. The Leads tab lists every matter created in the last 90 days, newest first, with the client's name, email and phone, the practice area, the matter description and where the client came from. The Jobs tab reads the matter pipeline: every pending matter whatever its age, plus every matter opened or closed over the last 12 months, each with its stage and practice area.
On the Jobs tab a pending matter is the open pipeline. An open matter is won, because the client hired the firm, and it is dated the day it opened. A closed matter that was opened first counts as won; one that closed straight from pending counts as lost. Filter the list by practice area, by outcome or by a search for a name.
Where does the lead source come from?
From your own custom field. Clio Manage has no built in lead source on a matter, so firms keep it in a matter custom field. TruLata reads the field whose name says referral, source, lead, marketing or how did you hear about us, and shows its value beside the matter. A picklist answers with the option your intake team chose, read back as its name.
A matter with no such field, or with the field left blank, shows Clio as its source and nothing else, rather than a guess. Clio Manage also records no fee or value on a matter, so the Jobs tab shows the count of matters and leaves the value unknown, never zero.
How do I connect Clio Manage?
Press Connect Clio on the Integrations tab. Clio opens, you sign in and approve TruLata, and you land back on your dashboard with your matters loading. There is nothing to copy and nothing to paste. Clio's approval screen lists what TruLata asks for, matters, contacts, custom fields, users and general account details, and each one says Read. The account owner or an admin of your TruLata account presses the button.
TruLata connects to Clio's US region, app.clio.com, today. A firm on Clio's Canada, EU or Australia region asks from the request card on the Integrations tab. On an account our team runs for you, we connect it with you during setup.
Can TruLata change anything in Clio?
No. Every permission TruLata holds in Clio is a read permission, so a new matter, a contact edit, a time entry, a bill or a calendar change is made in Clio itself, by your team. TruLata reads matters and the custom field values on them, and nothing else is written anywhere except Clio's own access token, refreshed before it expires and saved in our encrypted store.
The tokens Clio hands back are stored encrypted and never sent to a browser, yours included. Press Disconnect on the Clio card and TruLata ends its access token at Clio and deletes every token it holds. You can also remove TruLata yourself in Clio, under Settings, Apps.
How fresh is what I see?
Live. The Leads tab reads the last 90 days of new matters from Clio when it opens, and the Jobs tab reads the matter pipeline on every open, holding it for at most 90 seconds so a double click does not read twice. A matter your intake team opens this morning is on the screen the next time anyone looks.
A source that fails says so. If Clio does not answer, its card says Could not read and nothing is counted as zero. Records named test are left out before anything is counted. The live data page covers the clock on every other source.
Why put my Clio matters on a marketing dashboard?
Because a signed client is where the marketing pays off for a firm. The Leads view counts every form, call and intake, the ads view records what you spent, and the Jobs tab shows which of those became matters you opened. Read the three on one screen instead of matching an intake list against Clio at the end of the month.
Ask TruLata and your morning briefing read the same matters, so a question like which practice area opened the most matters this quarter, or which source the pending ones came from, is answered from your own Clio data. The law firm page covers the rest of what TruLata does for a practice, and the Lawmatics connection covers firms that run intake there.

Yes, Clio Manage. Press Connect Clio on the Integrations tab, approve TruLata in Clio, and new matters show on the Leads tab with their source while every matter shows on the Jobs tab as pending, opened or closed.
Can TruLata change my matters in Clio?
No. TruLata holds read permissions only in Clio. Matters, contacts, time and billing are changed in Clio itself.
How does TruLata know where a matter came from?
Clio Manage has no built in source on a matter, so TruLata reads your matter custom field named like referral, source, lead, marketing or how did you hear about us. A blank field shows the source as Clio.
Does it show what each matter is worth?
Clio Manage records no value on a matter, so the Jobs tab counts matters and shows the value as unknown, never as zero.
