Integrations

Approve the article, and it is live on your Shopify blog.

Connect your store on the Integrations tab with an Admin API token you create, and every article you approve on the Content tab publishes to your Shopify blog with its featured image, its summary and its search description. Your theme, your products and your orders stay as they are.

What do I need to connect my store?

Two things from your own Shopify admin: the store's myshopify address and an Admin API access token. In Shopify, open Settings, Apps, Develop apps, create an app with the read_content and write_content scopes, install it and reveal the token. Paste both on the Integrations tab and press Connect. The account owner or an admin connects it.

The token is checked before it is saved. TruLata reads your store's blogs with it and reads the token's scopes: a token that Shopify refuses, a store with no blog yet, or a token that cannot write blog posts is named on the card and never stored. A token that passes is stored encrypted and never sent back to a browser. Disconnect on the same card removes it, and you can uninstall the app in Shopify whenever you choose.

What lands on my blog when an article publishes?

A published article on your store's first blog: the title, the body, a summary, the featured image with its alt text, your business as the author and a search description set as the article's SEO description. It goes up published, because your approval on the Content tab is the review. The Content tab then shows the piece as published with a link to the live article on your own domain.

Approving twice never posts twice. Each article gets a handle built from its title and its own number, and before writing TruLata checks whether that handle is already on the blog; if it is, the existing article is returned instead of a second copy. If Shopify does not answer or refuses the post, the piece stays approved on the Content tab with the reason, so the work is kept and one more approval retries it.

Approving twice never posts twice.

Where do the articles come from?

From the content engine on your Content tab. On the 1st of each month at 7am Eastern the month's pieces are queued, two by default, and Write one more now on the Content tab queues another. Each topic starts as a phrase people actually search, between roughly 100 and 20,000 searches a month. The piece is researched from up to twelve current sources, written, every external link is opened, a photograph is added, and it is filed as a Google Doc in a Drive folder for your business before it reaches your store.

Then it waits for you. Read it on the Content tab, edit it, approve it or dismiss it. Turn on auto-publish in Settings and a finished draft approves itself when it passes its checks, and a piece whose links failed the check still waits for a person.

Can it change my products, theme or orders?

The connection writes one kind of thing: a blog article. The token you create carries the content scopes, which cover blogs and articles, and TruLata uses it to read your blogs, read the token's own scopes, read your shop's domain for the article link and publish an approved article. Your products, prices, theme, checkout and orders are outside what this connection does.

Everything else on the screen stays on its own path. A website, content, keyword or targeting request from the screen goes to your team as a logged ticket. The Security page lists every write path, and this connection adds one: the approved article on your blog.

Written by this connection

  • Its featured image, summary and search description

Left to you

  • Products and prices
  • Theme and checkout
  • Orders

What if I also run WordPress, Webflow or a TruLata site?

One destination publishes each article, in a fixed order. A site you built with the TruLata website builder comes first. Without one, an approved article goes to WordPress when it is connected, then Webflow, then Shopify. So a store whose blog is its main site gets every article, and a business with a separate WordPress site keeps publishing there.

With nothing connected, an approved piece stays approved with its text ready to copy, from the Content tab or from its Google Doc, and connecting a site on the Integrations tab lets it publish itself from then on. See the WordPress connection and the Webflow connection.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Do I need to install an app from the Shopify App Store?

No listing to install. You create a custom app in your own Shopify admin (Settings, Apps, Develop apps) with the read_content and write_content scopes, install it, and paste its Admin API access token on the Integrations tab.

Does it publish as a draft or live?

Live, once you approve it on the Content tab. Approval is the review, so the article goes up published, with its featured image and search description.

Which blog does it publish to?

Your store's first blog. A store with no blog is told so when it connects; add one under Online Store, Blog posts, and connect again.

Can it change my products or my theme?

The connection publishes blog articles and reads what it needs to do that: your blogs, the token's scopes and your shop's domain. Products, prices, the theme and orders stay outside it.

Can I approve every article myself?

Yes. Each finished piece waits on the Content tab for you to read, edit, approve or dismiss. Auto-publish in Settings is an option you turn on, and a piece whose links failed the check still waits for a person.

Which tier includes the Shopify connection?

The connection publishes what the content engine writes, so it works where the content engine runs on your account. The pricing page lists what each tier includes.
