Watching your ads: the daily Google Ads check
What the Watching your ads card on the Google Ads tab checks each day, what each finding means and what to do about it.
#What it is
On a self-serve account, the Watching your ads card sits at the top of the Google Ads tab, marked Checked daily. Once a day TruLata reads your campaigns over the last 30 days and lists what a good ads manager would flag, in plain words. When nothing needs attention it says so, with the number of campaigns running as expected, and shows when it last checked.
If the card says Choose your Google Ads account on the Integrations tab, connect Google Ads first.
#What it flags
- No campaigns are running, so no ads are showing.
- Spend with no conversions on any campaign: $50 or more in 30 days and nothing recorded. Either the ads are not bringing customers or conversion tracking is not set up.
- One campaign spending with no conversions while the rest of the account converts.
- A campaign costing more than twice the account's cost per conversion.
- A campaign spending its whole daily budget every day, so it is likely missing searches it could win.
- A campaign turned on that has not spent or been clicked in 30 days, so its ads are probably not showing.
#Acting on a finding
Ask TruLata can check which explanation applies, and can pause a campaign, turn one on or change a budget. It confirms with you first. Changes made that way are listed on the card under Changes made through Ask TruLata, with the date, the campaign, the before and after, and who asked. A change Google refused is marked (Google refused it).
If you have set a pause rule in Settings, a campaign it paused shows here as a finding too.
#Questions
What time does it run?
Once a day. The card shows when it last checked. The separate change watch in Who changed your account runs at 7:05am Eastern.
Is this the same as Who changed your account?
No. This card looks at how your campaigns are performing. Who changed your account lists who changed what in the account. See Who changed your Google Ads account.
The card says it could not load.
Refresh in a moment. Ask TruLata can read your campaigns directly in the meantime.
