Forward website form emails from Gmail to Leads
Use a Gmail filter to forward your website's form notification emails to a private TruLata address, so each one becomes a lead.
#When to use this
If your website form already sends you an email for each enquiry and that email lands in Gmail, you can forward those emails to TruLata instead of changing the form. Each forwarded form email becomes a row on the Leads tab.
TruLata never reads your inbox. You choose what is forwarded, with a Gmail filter.
#Get your private address
- Open Integrations and find the Gmail card.
- Copy the address shown, or press Copy address. It ends in
@leads.trulata.comand belongs to your account only.
#Set up forwarding in Gmail
- In Gmail, open Settings, See all settings, Forwarding and POP/IMAP, and press Add a forwarding address. Paste your TruLata address.
- Gmail sends that address a confirmation. TruLata emails it straight to you. Open its link, or type its code next to the address in Gmail and press Verify.
- Make a filter that matches your form emails, for example mail from your website's address, and choose Forward to your TruLata address.
#What is kept
Only form messages are kept: an email whose reply-to is the person who filled in the form, or one with your form plugin's own submission subject. Anything else forwarded to the address is read once to answer that question and never stored.
You do not get a TruLata lead email for a forwarded lead, because the original notice is already in your inbox. A second copy would match your filter and loop.
#Questions
Does TruLata read my Gmail?
No. Only the emails your own filter forwards reach TruLata, and only form messages among them are kept.
I forwarded a test email and nothing showed on Leads.
A plain email is not a form message, so it is not kept. Send a real enquiry through your website form, or use Send a test on the Website tab card.
The Gmail card says it could not load my address.
Refresh the page in a moment. If it still does not load, write to support@trulata.com.
Is this the same as connecting my form directly?
It gets the same leads onto the Leads tab. Connecting the form directly on the Website tab also sends the account owner a TruLata lead email for each one.
