The morning lead check: is your form and tracking working?

Every morning at 7:20 Eastern, TruLata checks your form's leads against Google Analytics and Google Ads. Here is what each check means.

#What it is

The Lead check card sits at the top of the Leads tab, marked Every morning, 7:20am ET. It sets the leads your website form sent over the last seven days against what Google Analytics and Google Ads counted, and shows the three numbers side by side.

The first check appears the morning after your form sends its first lead. It reads your connected website form, or the form on a site made in the website builder.

#The five checks

  1. The Google tag loads: your website's pages carry a Google tag and it still loads.
  2. Leads against GA4: leads arrived on your form while Google Analytics recorded no lead or form event.
  3. Paid leads against Google Ads: leads arrived from a paid click while Google Ads recorded no conversion.
  4. A spending campaign gone to zero: a campaign that had spent at least $50 has sat at $0 for four days or more, with who paused it where Google Ads says.
  5. The form is still sending leads: the form has gone quiet for longer than its own usual gap between leads, or sent no leads in a week while Search Console shows more than 20 visits from Google.

#What each status means

OK: nothing wrong. Needs a look: the check found a problem, explained under it. Could not check: a source did not answer this morning, so the check made no call rather than guess. Not set up: the check needs something you have not connected yet, such as Google Ads, or more lead history.

#Who is told

When a check needs a look, the account owner gets an email and your TruLata team is told. A problem that has not changed is repeated at most once a week, so you are not emailed about it every day.

#Questions

Did I lose leads if a check says the tag is broken?

No. Each lead is recorded the moment it arrives, whether or not a Google tag fires. The check tells you Google stopped counting them, not that they stopped coming.

Why does it say Could not check?

Google Analytics, Google Ads or your website did not answer that morning. It tries again the next morning.

I do not see the Lead check card.

It shows on self-serve accounts once a lead source is connected. Before the first lead, the card explains when the first check will appear.

Can I run it now?

It runs every morning at 7:20 Eastern. The card shows when it last checked.
