API limits and error messages
The TruLata API allows 120 requests a minute per key. Here is what each error code means and what to do.
#Limits
120 requests a minute per key. Up to 100 leads or 100 posts a call. Leads from the last 30 days by default, up to 365. Up to 50 webhook subscriptions per key, and up to 10 keys per account.
Giving each tool its own key keeps one busy workflow from slowing another.
#What each error means
Every error is JSON with ok set to false and an error in a plain sentence you can show a person. The HTTP status is the real one.
400: the request needs fixing. Read the error sentence.
401: the key is missing or revoked. Check the header, or make a new key.
404: this account has no lead with that id.
429: over the rate limit. Wait the retry_after time, 60 seconds, then send it again.
503: your lead sources cannot be read right now. Try again shortly. The API never dresses this up as an empty list, so a polling step does not mistake an outage for a quiet day.
#Questions
My key worked yesterday and now gives 401. Why?
The key was revoked on the Integrations tab, or the header is missing. Make a new key and update your tool.
