Read the Analytics tab
Your Google Analytics 4 numbers: sessions, users, pageviews, where visitors came from, top pages and the key events they triggered.
#What it shows
Your Google Analytics 4 property: how many people came, where they came from, what they read and what they did. Sessions lead the page, with users and pageviews beside them. Click a tile and the chart switches to that measure.
Traffic is split by channel, such as organic search, paid search, direct and referral, and by source / medium, so google / organic and google / cpc are separate rows. A devices table splits visits across mobile, desktop and tablet. Top pages are ranked by views, and an engagement table shows bounce rate, average session length, engaged sessions and new users.
Each key event your property records, such as a form submission or a call tap, is counted under a plain label with its change.
#Change the date range
Where the date picker is switched on for your account, pick the last 7, 30 or 90 days, the last 6 or 12 months, or a custom start and end. Compare with the previous period, the same period last year, or nothing. The default is the last 30 days against the 30 before.
Every preset ends yesterday, because today is still partial in Google Analytics. A range you have already opened is kept for five minutes, so switching back and forth is instant.
#Where Search Console is
On the SEO tab, not here. Analytics is what happened after the click; SEO is what happened before it.
#If the tab is empty
If Analytics shows Connect Google to see Analytics, Google is not connected or no property is chosen yet. Press Open Integrations and connect it. See Connect Google.
#Questions
Why is today missing?
Every preset ends yesterday, because Google Analytics is still filling in today.
Why does a key event count differ from my leads?
A key event is what a tag counted. Your Leads tab counts each form or call that actually arrived, so the two can differ.
The numbers are a few hours old.
Google releases Analytics data hours after the fact. See Why a number differs from Google.
