What the builder asks you, and what it makes
The short questions the builder asks when you have no site yet, which ones you can skip, and what the first version holds.
#The basic questions
Choose I don't have one yet and the builder asks one question per screen: what your business is called, the number customers should call, the email they should write to, where you are, what you offer, which towns you serve, a few sentences about your business, why customers pick you, when you are open, how a new customer should first get in touch, your brand color and which look you like best.
Every question has Skip beside Next. A name alone is enough for a first version. If you skipped the name, the builder asks for it once at the end, because a site needs something to call it.
#Pick a look
The look question shows pictures: Modern, Classic, Friendly, Bold and High end. Pick one to start from, or press Choose for me and the builder picks the look that suits your kind of business. You can try every look later in Style.
#Tell us more, or make it now
After the basics, Want to tell us more? offers extra questions: your logo and photos, how you work with a customer, who your ideal customer is, the people customers will meet, businesses you compete with or admire, websites whose look you like, pages you want, what the site should do for you, whether we may show your Google reviews, and any wording you are required to show.
Press Tell us more to answer them, or Make my site now to skip them all. Each extra question can be skipped on its own too. Competitors and sites you admire guide the work and never appear on your site. Required wording, such as a license number, is shown exactly as you type it.
#Make the site
On the last question press Make my site. A progress bar shows each step, such as planning your pages and writing your service pages. The first version is ready in a few minutes, on its own free preview address.
You do not have to wait. Press Email me when it's ready and close the page; we email you when the site is ready.
#What goes on the page
The builder writes from what you gave it and holds every sentence to a source. If you have no phone number, every Call button becomes Email or a message form. If you give a town and no street address, the site says where you are based and leaves out maps and directions.
Claims about results, guarantees and awards wait for a TruLata reviewer before they publish. See Why publishing asks for a quick check.
#Questions
Do I have to answer every question?
No. Every question can be skipped. A name alone is enough to make a first version, and you can add anything later.
Can I change my answers after the site is made?
Yes. Click any words on the page to change them, or use Settings, Your business for your name, addresses and towns.
Can I answer in another language?
Yes. See Build your site in another language.
