Build a new site from the site you have now
Give the builder your current web address and Google listing, and it makes a better first version from your own pages.
#Start from your current site
- Open the builder and choose I have a website.
- Paste your current web address. If you have a Google Business Profile, paste the link to your listing on Google Maps too.
- Answer the few short questions that follow, or skip them, and press Make my site.
#What comes over
The first version reads up to 40 of your current pages. Your reviews, team and posts come over word for word. The rest is written from what your pages say.
Forwards are set up so old links keep working: someone who follows an old link or an old Google result lands on the matching page of your new site. You can see and change these in Settings, under Forwarded addresses.
#The rest of your pages
When you take a plan to go live, the rest of your site comes in: every other page at its old address, in your own words, with its photos.
#Your Google listing
If TruLata manages your Google Business Profile, your hours, photos and reviews come in word for word. You can also bring your listing in yourself from Settings. See Bring in your Google listing.
#Your old site stays up
The builder reads your site; it does not change it. Your new site lives on its own free preview address until you go live on your own web address.
#Questions
Will my old links break?
No. Forwards are set up for the pages that came over, and you can add more under Settings, Forwarded addresses.
Does it copy my old design?
No. It keeps your words, reviews, team and posts, and lays them out in a new design you can change in Style.
What if my site has more than 40 pages?
The first version reads up to 40. The rest come in when you take a plan to go live.
