#Answer in your language

Answer the builder's questions in Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Chinese or Korean, and the first version is written in that language, menus and buttons included.

The same check that keeps unproven claims off an English site runs on a site in any of these languages. See Why publishing asks for a quick check.

#Set or change your site's language

The list holds English and the eleven languages above. The language tells browsers, screen readers and search engines how to read your site. Words the builder puts on your site itself, such as the menu button, the cookie banner buttons and the line at the foot of every page, follow it too.

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Find Language and time zone.
  3. Pick a language under Your site's language. It saves as soon as you pick it.
TipChanging the language does not translate the words you wrote. Change those on the page, or ask the assistant to rewrite them.

#One language per site

Each site has one language. To offer a second language, make a copy of your site in Settings, under Download or copy this site, set the copy's language and rewrite its words.

#Questions

Which languages can my site be in?

English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean and Tagalog.

Will changing the language translate my pages?

No. It sets how browsers and search engines read the site and the builder's own words on it. Your own words stay as written until you change them.

Still stuck?
