Send your website's form to the Leads tab

Point your own website's contact form at TruLata so every message lands on the Leads tab, with the page it came from.

#Where to find it

Open the Website tab and scroll to the card Send your website's form to Leads. It shows a private address for your account and a badge that reads Not connected yet until the first message arrives, then Connected.

A site made in the TruLata website builder needs none of this. Every message from its form already arrives on the Leads tab.

#If your site uses a form plugin

This covers WordPress forms, Webflow, Wix, Squarespace and Zapier.

  1. On the card, press Copy address.
  2. In your form plugin's settings, add a webhook and paste the address as where each entry is sent.
  3. Save the plugin settings.
  4. Back on the card, press Send a test. The badge changes to Connected.

#If your site has a plain HTML form

  1. Press Copy the form. It copies a ready form with name, email, phone and message fields.
  2. Paste it where the form should be on your page.
  3. Or keep your own form and set its action to the address on the card, with method POST.
TipThe copied form carries a hidden field that turns bots away. Keep it if you edit the form.

#Which fields are read

TruLata recognises the usual field names for name, email, phone, message and the service asked about, such as name, full_name, email, phone, message, comments or service. Separate first name and last name fields are joined. Fields with other names are not lost: they are added to the message as label and value lines.

A submission needs at least a name, an email, a phone or a message. After it is sent, the visitor goes back to the page they were on.

#Check that it works

Under the buttons, the card says how many messages have arrived and when the latest came in, or Nothing received yet. A test from Send a test is marked as a test, is never counted as a lead and does not send a lead email.

#Questions

Do I need to change my website's design?

No. A form plugin only needs a webhook added. A plain HTML form can keep its look; only its action changes to the address on the card.

Will I still get the email my form sends today?

A form plugin keeps sending its own notices when you add a webhook. If you point a plain HTML form's action at TruLata instead, TruLata's lead email takes over: each new website lead is emailed to the account owner.

Can Ask TruLata read these leads?

Yes. Every message from your website's form arrives on the Leads tab, and Ask TruLata can read them.

I do not see the card on the Website tab.

The card shows on self-serve accounts. If our team set up your account, your forms are connected during setup; write to support@trulata.com if leads are not arriving.

Still stuck?

Ask on the Ask TruLata tab of your dashboard and it answers from your own numbers, or opens a ticket for a person. Or email support@trulata.com and a person on our team replies.
