Put a password on your site or show a Coming soon page
Keep your whole site or a few pages behind a password, or show a Coming soon page on your address while you finish.
#Choose who can see your site
- Open Settings and find Password or Coming soon.
- Press Change who can see your site.
- Pick Everyone, People with a password or Nobody yet: show Coming soon.
- Press Save, then publish. The change takes effect when you publish.
#A password
Type the password visitors will type, 4 to 100 characters. Choose On the whole site, or On the pages I pick and tick the pages. Add words for the password page if you like.
To keep the password you set, leave the box empty. Set a new one and everyone who had the old one is asked again. We keep only a scrambled form of the password, so we cannot tell you what it was.
#Coming soon
With Nobody yet: show Coming soon, your own address shows a Coming soon page with your phone and email, and any words you add. Your preview address still shows the site, so you can keep working and share it with the people you choose.
#Open your site to everyone again
Pick Everyone, press Save and publish. The card then reads Your site is open to everyone.
#Questions
I forgot the password.
Set a new one in the same place and publish. Everyone is asked for the new one.
Can the assistant set a password?
No. The site password stays yours to set in Settings.
