How does TruLata know what to do? Set it up by telling Addy

Which searches it targets, which AI questions it checks, what it writes and what it changes all come from what you tell it. The fastest way to set or change any of it is to tell Addy.

#The short answer

TruLata works from what you tell it about your business: what you do, where you work, who your customers are, how you sound and the searches you want to win. Everything else it reads from your own accounts. Tell Addy any of it in plain words and she saves it for you, so the next article, the next AI check and the next campaign change use it.

TipYou do not have to find the right screen. Open Addy on any screen and say what you want TruLata to do differently.

#How does it know which keywords to target?

From two places. Your list: the Searches you want to win you give it. And Google's: the searches your site already shows up for in Search Console. Every week TruLata runs your searches on Google, along with your top Search Console searches, up to ten in all, and records whether Google answered with an AI Overview and whether it cited you. Your articles are written around the same searches.

To set or change them, tell Addy: "We want to win roof repair tulsa and storm damage roofer. Save those." To see where you stand, ask her: "Which searches are we closest to page one for?"

#How does it decide which AI questions to check?

It reads your website's homepage and what you told it about what you do and where you work, and writes the questions a buyer would ask an AI assistant. Then it asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Manus, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, Meta AI and DeepSeek those questions and records who each answer names.

To steer the questions, tell Addy what you do and where in your own words: "We do kitchen and bath remodels in Edmond and Norman, not roofing." To see the gaps, ask: "Which questions do AI assistants answer without naming us?"

#How does it decide what to write?

Each article is written from what you told it about your business, and every topic is checked against real search demand before a word is written. The questions AI assistants do not name you for are the best topics of all, because each one is a page worth writing. On the 1st of each month at 7am Eastern the engine queues the month's pieces, from 1 to 60 a month, and each draft waits for your approval unless you let it publish on its own.

To steer it, tell Addy: "Write an article answering what people near us ask about prices", "What should we publish next?" or "Write four articles a month instead of two."

#How does it decide what to change in my ads?

It reads your campaigns every morning and tells you what it found. A change that spends money, such as a budget or turning a campaign on or off, waits for your Approve, unless you switched on a rule in Settings that lets TruLata pause a campaign spending with no conversions.

To steer it, tell Addy: "Move $20 a day from the spring promo to the search campaign", or "Never run discounts in our ads." She remembers rules like the second one for the whole account.

#Tell her your rules once

Anything lasting, such as "we only do kitchens and baths" or "never mention price in a review reply", is saved under What Addy remembers on Settings, and every teammate's Addy follows it in every answer, draft and change. See What Addy remembers.

#Questions

Do I have to fill in Settings first?

No. Telling Addy is the same as filling in Settings: she saves what you say into it. Settings is still there if you prefer to type it yourself.

Who can change these settings?

The account owner or an admin, on the screen or through Addy. A member can ask Addy anything and gets answers.

What if Addy cannot change something herself?

She takes it on in the background and the result comes back into your conversation. See Bigger jobs.

Still stuck?

Ask Addy in your dashboard. She answers from your own numbers, does the job for you, or opens a ticket for a person. Or email support@trulata.com and a person on our team replies.
